Modern paleontology is an interdisciplinary basic subject, which relates to life science, earth science and environmental science. It focuses on the study of biodiversity in historical geology, the systematic evolutionary relationship of various biological categories and the co-evolutionary relationship between the geophysical environment and the biosphere.
