Yuanpei Youth League Committee is a primary organization of the Youth League Committee of Peking University, serving for the construction of the college and the development of students. At present, Yuanpei Youth League Committee consists of seven departments, including Organizing Department, Propaganda Department, Secretariat, Social Practice Department, Student Club Department, Youth Volunteers Association and General Office.
Each department of the Youth League Committee undertakes different duties, including docking with the school's Youth League Committee and various student organizations, handling and expanding basic league affairs, organizing activities like voluntary services and social practices, managing and organizing activities of the Youth League school, running and maintaining the Yuanpei Profile system, etc.
Besides, Yuanpei Youth League Committee organizes other interesting activities from time to time, provides timely services in all aspects to students’ study and life, and protects students’ interests together with the Student Union.
Guided by the Party Committee and the Youth League Committee, Yuanpei Student Union is an important student organization of Yuanpei College. Yuanpei Student Union consists of six departments, including Interior Department, Secretariat, Department of Art and Entertainment, Sports Department, Practice Department and External Relations Department.
Each department serves as a bridge and link between students and organizations of the school and the college. It represents rights and interests of students, reflects their suggestions, opinions and requirements, and focuses on practical problems in their studies and lives. One of the main functions of Yuanpei Student Union is organizing various activities, such as New Year party, "12.9" concert, freshman ball, international carnival, student cultural festival, etc. In addition, the Student Union is responsible for assisting in the management of Building 35, safeguarding students' rights and managing sports teams.
Yuanpei Academic Societies of Students, also known as YASS, is a unique student-running and student-oriented academic organization of Yuanpei College which adheres to the purpose of being "academic and interesting".
The organization is divided into two systems: the committee and disciplinary branches. The committee consists of four departments: Secretariat, Research Department, Academic Planning Department, and Propaganda Department. Disciplinary branches include the Society of Law, the Society of Economics and Management, the Society of Humanities, the Society of Social Sciences, the Society of Biochemistry, the Society of Mathematics, the Society of Physics, the Society of Data and Artificial Intelligence, the Society of Integrated Science, and the Society of Philosophy, Politics and Economics. All of the branches are established to serve students in the corresponding major fields.
The main functions of YASS include:
Participating in the construction of general education courses, freshman seminars and college courses;
Organizing academic events, such as course selection guidance, freshman salons, postgraduate recommendation, postgraduate entrance examination, overseas study sharing sessions, communication sessions with mentors, reading sessions, research software training and salon lectures;
Conducting interviews with mentors and senior students, sorting out academic information resources, etc.
All the work is committed to providing guidance and services for the academic life of Yuanpei students.
Established by Yuanpei Youth League Committee in September 2021, Yuanpei Student News Center is a brand new organization. At present, Yuanpei Student News Center consists of 4 teams: the photography and video team, the visual designing team, the interviewing team and the editing team.
The News Center participates in the public work of the college actively, which includes recording and reporting the new students welcoming, and introducing the Winter Olympics volunteers during the 2021-2022 academic year.
At the same time, the News Center produced a series of creative works, such as “85km” anecdotes, reports of the “Yuanpei Profile” project team,etc. The students from all groups give full play to their creativity and free exploration to provide more possibilities for the publicity and creation of our college.
Yuanpei College attaches great importance to students' physical training, and has established sports teams such aswomen's basketball team, men's basketball team, women's football team, men's football team, billiardball team, volleyball team, badminton team, tennis team, table tennis team, and slow-pitch softball team. In addition toroutinetraining,thesports teams also participate in the "Freshman Cup" and "Peking University Cup" competitions on behalf of Yuanpei College.
Yuanpei Debate Team is a student organization that represents Yuanpei College to participate in competitions like "Freshman Cup" and "The Spearhead of Peking University". In the last academic year, the team won the championship of "The Spearhead of Peking University" and the top four of "Freshman Cup".
Guided by the spirit of "speaking with benevolence, listening with open mind, differentiating with fair", the debate team has an important position and outstanding performance in the Debate Association of Peking University.
